KPALS – This intervention focuses on phonological awareness and phonics. At NME, a student works 1 on 1 with the interventionist on each game sheet. Letters are introduced systematically and explicitly. Students also work on rhyming, beginning and ending sounds, blending, segmenting, and eventually sight words!
PHYSICAL FITNESS MATH- We use this small group intervention throughout kindergarten, first, and second grades. Students in kindergarten work on counting, shapes, patterns, identifying numbers, and sets of numbers. First and second graders work on basic facts and number sense. Exercise and movement are planned into each activity! Cross body movements that connect the left and right hemispheres of the brain are also incorporated.
READ NATURALLY – Students in these small groups focus on reading fluently daily for 20 minutes. Each student tracks his or her own fluency. Students participate in cold reads, choral reading, repeated readings, and hot reads. After each cold and hot read, students chart their progress and are able to see improvement!
REFLEX MATH – This is an individualized basic facts computer program. Our first and second graders use this program to become more fluent in basic facts. This intervention is also available for use at home!
ROCKET MATH – This is a paper-pencil computation intervention. Students work through levels as they become fluent at solving basic facts on timed assessments. This intervention is used in the classroom.

TYNER SMALL GROUP READING – Students are assigned to groups based on their instructional reading level. Each group of 4-6 students spends 30 minutes on phonics skills, word wall knowledge, and guided reading.
