Title 1
WHAT IS TITLE 1?
The Title 1 program provides assistance for students who must accelerate their progress in order to perform at grade level. The Title 1 program is designed to provide students with an extra dose of reading or math. Most of the time, this instruction occurs in the Title 1 classroom, but it may also take place in the regular classroom. Title 1 resources are directed toward students who need them the most.
Besides providing small group instruction, Title 1 teachers also track and monitor student progress. They may provide assistance with assessments and data collection. Additionally, Title 1 teachers can be a resource for classroom teachers in selecting instructional materials and developing effective teaching strategies.
